POW Reunion
Aliceville, Alabama is a special place for many World War Two veterans. From 1943 to 1945 roughly 6,000 German prisoners of war were housed at Camp Aliceville. But in stark contrast to places like Abu Graib and Guantanamo – the Aliceville camp ended up being an experience many of the German POWs embraced. In fact, 60 years later American and German veterans continue to hold reunions in Aliceville.
Recently Alabama Public Radio covered camp experience and the reunion, producing this report.
